Description:
BAUER COMPRESSORS INC. is currently seeking a part-time Vibration & Calibration Technician to perform and document vibration analyses using LabVIEW software and also perform maintenance of the vibration measurement protocols. This position is instrumental in the development of new test methods using LabVIEW software and will perform calibration/measurement projects as assigned under the guidance of the Quality Control Engineer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  1. LabVIEW software for vibration spectrum analysis [VSA] and fast Fourier transform [FFT] applications:
    a. develop familiarity and expertise with existing software for Bauer products and equipments
    b. maintain software system integrity and currency
    c. update system software as required for continuous process improvement
    d. utilize the software in VSA in Test and Product Support Departments to develop and use “executables”
    e. recommend and document improvements to the system
  2. Assists the assembly department lead in determining disposition of defective components
    a. Background
    b. Objectives of project
    c. Methodology
    d. Investigation/Actions
    e. Results
    f. Ramifications and/or Consequences
    g. Recommendations
  3. Perform VSA and FFT data gathering on assigned systems in the Test and Product Support departments
    a. collect VSA/FFT data
    b. assist and monitor department personnel in data collection
    c. assist the QE in data downloads and analysis
  4. Document procedures in the Bauer Quality System relating to assigned tasks
    a. vibration analysis
    b. metrology
  5. Calibration and metrology functions as time allows
    a. learn pressure calibration processes and associated data analysis
    b. perform pressure calibrations and uncertainty analyses
    c. document processes and procedures assigned.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be well-versed in LabVIEW. Familiarity and competence with spreadsheets (e.g., MS Excel), databases (e.g., MS Access), and SPC concepts and applications. Experience, training, and/or familiarity with concepts used in calibration and chemical analysis instrumentation are desirable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment:

Working hours will average 24 (hrs) per week. Smoking is allowed in some designated areas. The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dba.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee may be required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, a respirator, and/or a dust mask depending upon the nature of the work performed.
